I'm the tech guy in the family and with my friends. I'm the guy who usually get a call starting with: "Long time no see, you should come over for dinner and set up my amplifier because I can't"

Since HD came out, I get less and less of those calls. I have friends who are -12 on a scale of 10 with tech stuff, who tell me that they bought a HDTV and a HDPVR. Then, they tell me they set it up themselves. Sure enough, it does help that the saleman also twist their arm to t...

Mario Kart was fun, but you could not sit 4 people from different level. If you had a pro who knew the tracks and weapons inside out, he would always own beginners and average players.

Now, with ModNation, you can play a new track every time, so at least the same 4 players will start the game not knowing what to expect, particularly things like when is the best time to fire a weapon because they know there's a long stretch ahead, where are the pickups, etc... Each race will be n...

I know, I know, you cannot play your favorite game at 12:01, 9:01 or 8:01, but so what... You still play it on day one, and you only spend 5 minutes in the store. I would rather play something else instead of having to sleep in front of a store.

And luckily for most people, the PS3 slim was available for pre-order in most stores.

I downloaded all the demos I didn't tried yet, plus most of the great one I had to delete to make room. Was a pain in the butt to queue a bunch, get the limit, wait for the download to finish, install, and repeat.

Today, I would simply zip through that procedure. (Though I find that having a mile long list of demo doesn't help much either... Sony will have to get some multiple folder organisation going for that too!).

Well, as other have said... With E3, and other...

Yikes, you must come from Harvard as well, and got the same financial courses.... One of you must be wrong...

Douglas: "ps3 has sold poorly"
You: "Sony posted a $2.57 billion loss last March with the PS3."

If the PS3 would have sold better than it did, the loss would have been bigger since they have been selling them at a lost. (loosing money on each PS3 sold)

So either you're right, and most of the lost is attributed to PS3 s...

Good find. Posting the article so people don't have to follow your link!

"During Take-Two's investors call today, CEO Ben Feder confirmed that the company has taken delivery of both Project Natal and PlayStation Motion Controller development hardware and that the former is "embedded in all of our studios, or just about all of our studios,"

Gotta love the web!!!

Funnily, you never see a newer firware release in the next weeks fixing the previous one with a title like: New firmware fixing all the consoles bricking, or freezing, or etc. A week after release, complaints simply vanish. Look like for most firmware releases until 3.0, it was always bad timing or trolls posting bad messages. I have to admit that this time, it's quite strange that Uncharted seem to be flaky. On the other side, I would guess this is one of the most demanding game for the P...

But the best of all was:

LOWCARB: "attacking people that prefer 360 is just plain stupid." Then next sentence, just after: "your little desperate over hyping ps3 junk."

So I guess attacking the PS3 is ok : )

Two sentences, back to back... 1.12 if you're interested!

(At least in Canada...)

They simply get a bigger return out of the 360. Even if it's only a few bucks.

I got that answer from a Best Buy owner. Note that he is not making the flyer and has nothing to say about this, but it does make sense.

Doesn't explain why Infamous was not advertised by Future Shop and Best Buy the week it was released, but who knows. (That's what triggered my question then, since I was thinking conspiration theory as well : )

Sure, long warranty are awesome, but you should not need it. Technically, warranty are only for the poor unlucky 3% or less who will need it.

Dang, Microsoft had to use an external power supply to save heat inside the console. Then they added heatsinks twice inside their consoles. Yes, all products will eventually fail. But with a good design BEFORE you release the product, we would not be arguing about how long a warranty should be right now! A reliable 360 would probably have ...

This is the statement that did tickle me a bit...

"You can pick up a stand for $24, a bit steep since it should just come bundled,"

How many people have their PS3 standing up? 5%? 10%? maybe 15%?. So they should bundle the stand?, probably raise the price for it?, and 85% of the people who will buy it, with just send it back in the recycle bin... Let see: Actual PS3 sold way over 20 millions consoles, that would be about 18 millions stands needing to b...

Luckily, the new cell can likely survive with lousy thermal transfer anyway. When I look at something like that, I'd probably wait for the warranty to be over, then, take it apart, dust it off, and surely replace the thermal paste with Artic 5 or better, and definitively do a better job applying it. The thing is such a beauty, but I guess they had to fill the market too quickly.

Still too many screws as far as I'm concerned too. But again, what the heck, you don't need to open a ...

It's a question of Microsoft being a control freak... They have O.S. full of holes, but for consoles, you cannot have user content, you need wires for controller, you have to buy an overpriced hardrive exclusively from them, and so on.

Dang, they should stop worrying about their console, and patch the holes in their O.S. instead!

They never, ever sold a car under manufacturing price (even if they do claim so in some advertising)...

And I would not complain too much about a BluRay failure, since it could also be caused by inserting a dvd or bluray with peanut butter or jelly on it. (yes, I've seen it!).

Also, the price for repair is fixed, no matter what you want to get fixed. So sure enough, it does sound expensive for a bluray problem, but remember, this is the same price even if they have t...
